Our Story

Founder

"Inspired by nature, guided by purpose".

Hi, I'm Holly Watson, Founder of Pretty Drift. Though I often say the true Founder is "Mother Nature" herself.

Inspired by nature's beauty, as well as my lifelong passion for fashion. I created Pretty Drift to design handbags that make people feel beautiful, not by chasing seasonal trends but by celebrating timeless design and refined craftsmanship.

Our brand reflects a deep respect for our planet, people and animals, guided always by integrity and intention. Every Pretty Drift handbag is ethically sourced, environmentally responsible and handcrafted in Canada by skilled local artisans. Our mission is simple, yet powerful. To create beauty that gives back.

The Muskobow is more than a handbag; it's a symbol of change.  When fashion is created with integrity, beauty and design are never compromised. Fashion is even more magnificent when it's kind!

Growing up in Northern Ontario, I was fortunate to have paradise at my fingertips. Lush forests, freshwater lakes, rivers and farmland. Those landscapes shaped my strong connection to nature. Later, my career in fashion took me from Toronto to travel around the world, enriching my appreciation for natural landscapes and design.

Finally, my family and I settled in gorgeous Muskoka. I fell in love with its rugged shorelines, laced with sparkling granite, soaring white pines, and the driftwood scattered along the water's edge.

I truly admired the driftwood for its captivating imperfections, it's  strength, resilience and elegance. It's the journey that makes each piece of driftwood so beautiful and unique, just as our own experiences in life shape who we become. True beauty isn't perfection; it's the courage and growth that lives in our own story, found along the way.

"Every handbag is inspired by the Journey".

Our Vision

Believing in greatness, within ourselves, to create beauty and change, that strengthens our planet, humanity and all living creatures.

Values

Pretty Drift’s core values include “Environmental Responsibility”, “Social Responsibility,” and “Individual Responsibility.” We must be the best version of ourselves to support positive change within the fashion industry reflecting the wellbeing of our planet.

Environmental Responsibility

We have a stewardship and a responsibility to care for and protect our planet and the natural environment. Future generations and all living creatures depend on it for their survival

Biodegradability

Our handbags are consciously created, using ethical, eco-friendly, sustainable vegan materials, that have minimal environmental impact from sourcing to disposal. Choosing materials that can break down naturally at the end of their life, reducing landfill waste, minimizes our environmental footprint.

Innovative vegan textiles we use now or have an interest in using for future handbags are eco-friendly, cotton, linen, hemp, bamboo and biobased leathers such as mushroom leather, cactus leather, apple leather, grape leather and pineapple leather.

We are constantly researching the best and latest technologies in innovative vegan materials. Our packaging is also eco-friendly. All paper products are Forest Stewardship Council certified, 100% recyclable, and 93% recycled.

Circular Economy

Designing for durability and recyclability to extend the lifespan of our handbags and reduce waste is a priority.

We favour premium quality, long-lasting modular materials with no blends. For example, we use 100% linen and 100% cotton, and even our hardware is recyclable as it is low-lead solid brass. These materials can easily be separated and recycled at the end of their lifespan.

Meticulous craftsmanship is carefully considered in quality product construction and superior design to help give the handbag a longer life span, through reuse and recycling.

Reducing Waste

We are a premium vegan handbag brand, prioritizing quality over quantity. Pretty Drift manufactures locally at Fashion Exchange in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in small batch runs, which reduces overproduction and waste.

Fashion Exchange utilizes innovative, state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, which contribute to reduced waste.

Other strategies for waste reduction include inventory management, tracking inventory levels, and avoiding overstocking. We also purchase dead-stock denim when it's available to limit waste.

All our materials are eco-friendly. We encourage employees to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Pretty Drift partners with suppliers and manufacturers practicing waste reduction initiatives.

Environmental Footprint

Pretty Drift is working to reduce its environmental footprint.  We support 100% carbon-neutral shipping, partnering with UPS.

We have partnered with Cone Denim, USA. They are committed to an annual reduction of 2.5% in greenhouse gas emissions.  We focus on collaborating with businesses in the fashion industry that promote positive change.
